Keen young filmmakers, YouTubers and digital content creatives can hone their filmmaking skills by accessing an online filmmaking Masterclass created and delivered by Australian actor, director and producer Myles Pollard.
CinefestOZ, through its Cinesnaps schools program is taking online enrolment bookings for this Cinesnaps Student Short Film Masterclass, designed for high school secondary students looking to enhance their repertoire of filmmaking skills.
‘Shoot to Win’ is the first of a series of online sessions as part of the Cinesnaps Schools Program to be released this year.
The class aims to upskill and inspire young creatives keen on producing films and digital content.
Myles Pollard has created this unique workshop specially for those interested in entering the Cinesnaps Short Film Competition, open for 15-18 year olds. The final shortlist selection will be screened as part of the CinefestOZ Film Festival 2020.
Myles said he is excited to help the filmmakers of tomorrow learn a few filmmaking techniques that may help them refine their story and performance.
“Hopefully students will walk away from the workshop inspired and confident to continue on with their filmmaking journeys” he said. The Drift star encourages anyone who is passionate about filmmaking to take advantage of this unique skills development opportunity.
Students will gain tips and tricks of the industry as they’re taken through working with scripts, creating shot lists, making acting choices, rehearsing, blocking and then shooting the scene. The final stages of the workshop will see students edit their scene and receive professional feedback.
The Cinesnaps Short Film Competition is open to all keen, 15-18 year old South West students with a passion for film. No fancy equipment is required, just a device for filming and editing. The theme for this year’s competition is SUITCASE and CinefestOZ is now accepting entries online. Entry to the competition is free and closes 30 June.
