CQUniversity a new CinefestOZ Festival Partner

CinefestOZ is pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with CQUniversity, Australia’s largest regional university, with over 20 locations Australia wide.

CQUniversity has a growing presence in Western Australia, with a Perth campus and study hubs in Karratha, Broome and Busselton. CQUniversity is also has a presence in Geraldton with the Geraldton Universities Centre. It is a leading online education provider in Australia and ranks in the top 2% of Universities worldwide with a strong focus on supported distance education.

CQUniversity students are able to study where and when it suits them, with the added benefit of facilities and support through campuses and local study hubs.

CinefestOZ CEO Malinda Nixon said she was thrilled to have a university partner, particularly with the festival being so closely connected with students through the Cinesnaps schools program and short film competition.

“CQUniversity provides a broad range of distance courses in the creative, performing and visual art fields,” she said.

“It’s a positive step that regional and rural students can study interactive media, video and animation from anywhere, and with access to multimedia computer laboratories and production studios, will learn how digital media works using industry-standard software tools and techniques.”

CQUniversity’s Associate Vice-Chancellor (Western Australia), Professor Trevor Davison says the University is “looking forward to being associated with this renowned CinefestOZ event, which is a highlight of the Busselton region’s cultural and social calendar, as part of our ‘giving back’ ethos and in terms of boosting the University’s profile and community involvement”.

CQUniversity Busselton Study Hub Coordinator Angela Bancilhon said she was thrilled to be a part of CinefestOZ and support a film festival that is so engaged with regional students.

“The CinefestOZ Cinesnaps program encourages students to develop an appreciation of the filmmaking process, as well as the role film, as a digital medium, plays in our culture,” she said.

“We love the emphasis CinefestOZ places on providing opportunities to regional students which is very much aligned with our core values.”

The university offers 300 TAFE and University qualifications, with seamless pathways between short courses, certificates and diplomas, through to undergraduate, postgraduate and research higher degrees.
