Angela Bates is the Head of First Nations at Screen Australia. Angela is a proud Malyangapa and Maori woman from western NSW. She has over 20 years’ experience in the media sector as a producer, writer, award-winning journalist and documentary filmmaker. She was the inaugural executive producer for NITV National News, where she set up the first ever nightly Indigenous news service on national television. Angela was the general manager for the World Indigenous Television Broadcasters Network hosted by the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network in Canada. She completed a Master of Arts Screen: Business and Leadership at AFTRS in 2018.
