CinefestOZ Film Festival’s Opening Night kicked off last night in Bunbury, Busselton and Margaret River, with the WA premiere screening of Backtrack Boys, and the $100,000 Film Prize finalist Ladies in Black, featuring Australian actors Rachael Taylor, Julia Ormond and Angourie Rice.

CinefestOZ celebrated its 11th year with glittering Opening Night festivities including pre-screening local canapes, wine and entertainment, followed by an after party at the Festival Hub.

Held at Bunbury’s Grand Cinema and Busselton’s Orana Cinema, stars in attendance included this year’s Jury Chair and Australian screen and stage icon Sigrid Thornton, film producer Zareh Nalbandian (Peter Rabbit, The Lego Batman Movie), Logie Award-winning West Australian actress Tasma Walton, (Cleverman, Looking for Grace, Mystery Road), West Australian Producer Tania Chambers OAM (Kill Me Three Times?, A Few Best Men) and one of Australia’s most loved actors and television hosts, Michael Caton (The Castle, Packed to the Rafters, Hot Property, Hot Auctions).

Ladies in Black Producers, Sue Milliken and Allanah Zitserman also attended opening night celebrations in Busselton, along with Celia Massingham, who plays the role of Myra in the film.
