Scott Hicks is an internationally acclaimed film director, producer and screenwriter. His 1996 film Shine was nominated for seven Academy® Awards, including two for Scott for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, with Geoffrey Rush winning Best Actor. He received an Emmy in 1994 for his direction of the documentary series Submarines: Sharks of Steel, and his film Sebastian and the Sparrow won awards at three international film festivals. Hicks’ first Hollywood studio film, Snow Falling on Cedars starring Ethan Hawke, also received an Academy Award nomination and was followed closely by Hearts in Atlantis, starring Anthony Hopkins. Other directorial credits include No Reservations starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, The Boys are Back, starring Clive Owen and The Lucky One starring Zac Efron. Scott is a member of the Academy of Motion Arts and Sciences and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, together with the Australian Academy.
