Garry Phillips
Garry Phillips studied at Queensland University in Australia, graduating as a surveyor and then with an Arts degree in Communication. He joined FILMWORKS, a production house in Brisbane and worked in various crew and camera capacities before moving to Sydney as a freelance camera assistant. In 1993 he became a freelance cinematographer. He has been Director of Photography for feature films Better than Sex, Gettin’ Square, The Monkey’s Mask; and Candy, starring Heath Ledger, Abbie Cornish, and Geoffrey Rush. In 2005, Garry shot “Catch a Fire”, directed by Phillip Noyce in South Africa. Garry’s work includes Burning Man in 2010, and most recently on The Railway Man starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman.
