CINEFESTOZ WELCOMES TWO NEW FESTIVAL PATRONS – RICHARD ROXBURGH & JUB CLERC

Legendary Australian actor Richard Roxburgh (Rake, The Correspondent, Elvis) and talented Nyul Nyul and Yawuru filmmaker Jub Clerc (Sweet As, Total Contral, Mystery Road) have been appointed as new Patrons of the CinefestOZ Film Festival, running 30 August to 7 September in Bunbury, Busselton and Margaret River.

Richard, who Chaired the 2022 CinefestOZ Film Prize Jury that saw Of An Age take home Australia’s richest $100000 Film Prize, and Jub who has been actively involved with the festival for more than ten years as a filmmaker and Board Member, join existing festival Patrons Emma Booth, Kelton Pell, Myles Pollard and David Wenham.

CinefestOZ Chair Margaret Buswell said: “We are thrilled Richard Roxburgh and our very own Jub Clerc are our new Patrons – responsible for championing CinefestOZ and Australian filmmaking as part of their work in Australia and overseas.”

“Richard’s infectious enthusiasm for CinefestOZ and his reputation in the Australian film industry, along with Jub’s intimate knowledge of the festival along with her directorial success in projects such as Sweet As, Total Control and now Mystery Road Origins 2 make the two ideal additions to the festival’s team of advocates.

Jub Clerc commented: “I am so honoured to join CinefestOZ as an Ambassador. Over the years I have watched and been part of the growth of this wonderful festival with all it offers to the community and the industry and I look forward to representing it in this exciting new role.”

Jub and Richard will be involved in multiple events across the nine days, with both Patrons also showcasing new work, including the special preview of Mystery Road Origins 2 directed by Jub, and the premiere of the hilarious new animation Lesbian Space Princess, with voiceover by Richard.
