Actor and Director Myles Pollard was named CinefestOZ 2023 Screen Legend at the recent Festival’s

 Film Prize Celebration in recognition of his decade and more support of the CinefestOZ Film Festival as its Cinesnaps Schools Program patron.

Margaret Buswell said “Our Screen Legend is recognised for playing a valuable role in supporting CinefestOZ celebration of excellence and development in Australian filmmaking.” 

“In addition to his own role as an actor and filmmaker, Myles has played a pivotal role in the development of young West Australian film talent through his volunteering with the Festival, running masterclasses for thousands of students, chairing our Cinesnaps Award annually as well as his commitment to teaching the next screen generation.”

Receiving the award in front of local and international filmmaking guests and festivalgoers, Myles Pollard thanked CinefestOZ for hosting an incredible program and naming him the 2023 Screen Legend.
“It’s been an absolute honour helping to develop young West Australian film talent via the Cinesnaps short film program and it’s such a privilege helping to the next generation of filmmakers,” Myles said.
Since inception 12 years ago, the Cinesnaps Schools Program has engaged over 52,000 students across Western Australia and is supported in the South West, Great Southern and Mid West regions by principal Rio Tinto and in Bunbury by Albemarle.

Previous recipients of the Screen Legends include Richard Roxburgh (2022), Isla Fisher (2021), Kelton Pell (2019, Sigrid Thornton (2018), Scott Hicks (2017), Jacqueline McKenzie (2017), Gillian Armstrong (2016, Hugo Weaving (2015), Joel Edgerton (2014), Bruce Beresford (2014, Jack Thompson (2013), Bryan Brown (2012), Fred Schepsi (2011), David Wenham (2011) Steve Bisley (2010).


About Myles Pollard 
Myles has appeared as an actor in television series such as McLeod’s Daughters, Home and Away, Packed to the Rafters, Underbelly, Double Trouble, East West 101, All Saints, Rescue Special Ops, The War That Changed Us, Mystery Road, Itch 2 and is shooting The Twelve (series 2) now, here in Perth. His feature film credits include Wolverine, Four, Drift, The Turning, Looking For Grace, Jasper Jones, The Gateway, Danger Close, How To Please a Woman, Before Dawn and Frank and Frank. Myles produced and starred in the feature film Drift which which won numerous international and local film awards including Myles Pollard as Best Actor at the WA Screen Awards. Myles’ wrote and directed the short film Payne’s Find which won numerous international awards and his latest film 

Inheritance, which he wrote and directed, is due for release in 2024 and stars star Matt Nable, Chris Haywood and Travis Jeffery. Myles has been an ambassador for CinefestOz’ ‘Cinesnaps’ program for 12 years and an Acting Coach and Communications Facilitator for over two decades.
