Jake Mason is a celebrated filmmaker and passionate marine conservationist, known for his compelling underwater documentaries that shed light on the pressing environmental challenges facing our oceans. With a background in underwater and drone photography dating back to 2016, Jake has honed his craft in capturing the intricate beauty of marine ecosystems, bringing the ocean’s wonders to audiences around the world.
Jake’s dedication to ocean conservation is evident in his award-winning films. His documentary How Healthy is Our Ocean? earned top honors at the 2023 Fremantle Underwater Film Festival, recognized for its insightful exploration of the health of our marine environments. Another of Jake’s notable works, Return From Extinction: Megaptera novaeangliae, has also garnered critical acclaim for its powerful portrayal of the humpback whale’s journey from the brink of extinction.
In his feature-length documentary Busselton Jetty: A Sea Of Discovery, Jake took on the challenge of his first large-scale project, where he served as producer, director, editor, and videographer. Collaborating closely with the Busselton Jetty team, Jake aimed to showcase the extensive work and dedication that went into the Busselton Jetty Underwater Sculpture Park Project, bringing to life the collective efforts of everyone involved.
